Apparaten voor photobiomodulatie maken gebruik van licht-emitterende diodes (LED\u2019s) om licht te leveren in de zichtbare rode en nabij-infrarode golflengten.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"738\" data-end=\"770\">Hoe werkt photobiomodulatie?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"772\" data-end=\"1305\">Net als bij hyperbare zuurstof (HBOT) wordt bij lichttherapie gebruikgemaakt van natuurlijke energieoverdracht. PBM gebruikt licht, dat bestaat uit miljarden fotonen \u2014 kleine pakketjes energie \u2014 die hun energie kunnen afgeven aan het lichaam. Een van de aangrijpingspunten van deze energie-overdracht bevindt zich in de mitochondri\u00ebn, de energiecentrales van onze cellen. Hier wordt onderzocht of fotonen de activiteit van bepaalde enzymen, zoals cytochroom C-oxidase, kunnen ondersteunen bij de aanmaak van ATP (cellulaire energie).<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1307\" data-end=\"1764\">Daarnaast is er in wetenschappelijke literatuur aandacht voor het vrijkomen van stikstofmonoxide (NO) wanneer licht door het lichaam wordt geabsorbeerd. Dit kan bijdragen aan een tijdelijke verwijding van bloedvaten en een toename van lokale doorbloeding, waardoor zuurstof en voedingsstoffen effici\u00ebnter kunnen worden getransporteerd naar omliggende weefsels. Infrarood licht speelt hierin mogelijk een belangrijke rol vanwege het diepe penetratievermogen.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1766\" data-end=\"1959\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1768\" data-end=\"1959\"><strong data-start=\"1768\" data-end=\"1779\">Let op:<\/strong> De werking van photobiomodulatie is onderwerp van lopend onderzoek. Beide technologie\u00ebn worden onderzocht vanwege hun mogelijke bijdrage aan het ondersteunen van cellulaire energieprocessen.
